Lend a paw

As a volunteer at PawsAbilities, you'll have the opportunity to stand in daycare, interact with our dogs, and help create a fun and enriching environment for them. You’ll assist with cleaning kennels, making lick mats and other enrichment activities, and even get creative by painting tires and building fun structures like tunnels for the dogs to enjoy. It's a great way to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the well-being of our furry friends!

How It Works

  • Orientation: Your first volunteer shift will include a brief orientation to help you get familiar with our procedures and expectations. No separate orientation session is required—just show up for your scheduled shift, and we’ll guide you through everything you need to know!

  • Volunteer Hours: Held between the hours of 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, and 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM for the time being.

    • Monday - Friday, no weekend times available

  • Booking Volunteer Hours: Hours can be booked in 30-minute to 1-hour intervals. Time slots will be limited 2 volunteers at a time. (Providers, personal aids, and parents/guardians won’t be counted in the time slot numbers.)

What You’ll Do:

  • Interact with dogs in daycare

  • Assist with kennel cleaning

  • Create enrichment activities (lick mats, toys, etc.)

  • Help build fun structures like tunnels from tires

Due to the nature of our volunteer work and the diverse needs of our clients, please note that not all dog groups in our daycare may be suitable for everyone. As such, it is not guaranteed that volunteers will directly interact with dogs during their shifts. Volunteer placement in daycare rooms will depend on the specific dog groups present, and alternative tasks such as helping with cleaning, making lick mats, or other activities will be provided when necessary to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all involved.
